Face Fillers

As the human body ages, there is a loss of subcutaneous fat and our production of collagen slows down and eventually stops. That leads to loss of volume in crucial areas of our face like cheekbones and lips. Further, the use of facial muscles to laugh, smile of frown, leads to fine lines and wrinkles.

FAQ

How does Botox work?

Botulinum toxin, is a natural, purified protein that is used to temporarily paralyze the facial muscles, appearing to give a smooth appearance to the fine lines and wrinkles. Facial wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate muscles of the face every time you laugh, smile or frown. The more one expresses emotion through the face the deeper these lines and wrinkles are likely to be. It is now possible to dramatically soften these expression lines by injecting Botox. When injected into selected areas it blocks impulses from the nerves to the tiny facial muscles related to expression lines. As a result, the muscles are unable to contract into frown or worry lines.

What is Botox used for?

  • Smooth the frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Smooth the forehead lines
  • Smooth the so called “crows feet” or laughing lines
  • Elevate the outside corner of the eyebrow
  • Turn the corners of the mouth up
  • Soften the so-called Marionette lines
  • Soften the skin creases on the bridge of the nose, the so-called “bunny lines”.
  • Soften so-called “smokers lines” on the upper lip .
  • To decrease upper lip retraction in people with so-called “gummy smiles
  • To stop teeth grinding To shrink excessively large jaw clenching muscles that sit
  • Over the corner of the jaw. The condition is called Bruxism
  • To treat Hyperhidrosis ( excessive sweating)

Is Botox Painful?

Any injection can hurt, but the needles used for Botox injections are very small, so pain is usually minimal. Most people do not find this procedure uncomfortable at all.

How much does it cost?

Botox is usually charged per unit. Our Price list will give you estimates, but it can differ depending on the number of units required to treat the area successfully.

At what age should you start getting Botox?

The most appropriate age to start Botox will depend on the skin color and the type of lifestyle (more versus less sun). In general, Caucasian women usually do best when they start Botox between 30 and 40.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending if it is a new patient that first has to consult with the doctor as well as the size of the area the procedure usually takes 20 to 30 minutes

How long do the results last?

Normally you would see improvement within a few days. Botox requires two to four days for it to attach to the nerve ending that would normally stimulate the muscle to contract. The maximum effect usually occurs at about 10-14 days. Therefore, whatever effect is obtained two weeks after the injections should be considered the maximum effect that is going to occur. Botox will last about 4 to 6 months and can be repeated.

How does dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers are small injections of gel, typically made up of hyaluronic acid, that fill in wrinkles, add volume to soft tissue, and help to enhance facial features and improve tone and texture. You can have dermal fillers in different parts of your face: around the eye, cheeks, mouth and jawline, as well as lip fillers, administered directly into the lip tissue to plump up lips that get thinner as we age.

What is the active ingredient in Dermal Fillers?

Commonly Dermal Fillers are comprised of a synthetic form of Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body and is in abundance in a plump youthful face but decreases as we age. These fillers can give effective and immediate results in reducing wrinkles and fine lines. It can fill in deep folds under the skin and create fuller lips and cheeks. It can create an appearance of a fuller skin.

  • Traditionally, collagen was used for dermal fillers, but Hyaluronic Acid (Restylane and Perlane is more popular now as it has shown some evidence of creating a permanent anti-aging effect by promoting collagen growth.

What areas can dermal fillers be used for?

It can be applied on a variety of areas including:

  • Lips can be given shape and volume
  • nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds),
  • around the mouth ( for “smoker’s” lines)
  • the tear troughs and periorbital lines, ( for hollow areas under the eyes)
  • mouth to chin lines.( marionette lines)
  • chin areas can be injected to restore lost definition
  • Non- Surgical Nose Job. Rhinoplasty is a painful and invasive procedure and requires a lot of recovery time. A non- surgical nose job can now be performed with injectable fillers. Results are not permanent though this nose job treatment is prefect for people who would like to even out bridge bumps or create nostril symmetry
  • Cheek Filler - Tight Skin and defined cheekbones are symbols of youth and beauty.
  • Volume and definition can now be injected into the cheek area to correct sagging in the lower face and recreate youthful beauty.
  • Non-Surgical Face Lift – This is using a combination of dermal fillers and Muscle relaxers to maximize the treatment process

How are fillers administered?

Dermal filler are injected into the skin beneath the wrinkle with a very fine needle. A numbing cream is applied to the area prior to performing the procedure.

How long do the results last?

The results are immediate and usually last from 12 to 18 months. In some cases it can even last longer. Once results start to fade away, you may return for another procedure.

How long does the procedure take?

Typically a procedure will take 30 - 45 minutes (dependent on area/areas).

What do I look and feel like straight after the procedure?

There might be a small amount of swelling or bruising around the site of the injections but this usually subsides significantly within 30 minutes or so and normally disappears within 48 hours.

Is the procedure painful?

You will experience some discomfort during the injection of fillers. Topical anesthetics applied to the skin before the procedure, but most fillers are viscous so when they are injected they stretch the skin, causing discomfort.

Will having fillers make me look like I've had work done?

Dermal fillers is a procedure that relies on technique in the way it is delivered. When fillers are done correctly, you should continue to look natural. Always make sure you are treated by an experienced Aesthetic Doctor, who is licensed to perform cosmetic procedures.

How much does it cost?

Filler is usually charged per unit. Our Price list will give you estimates, but it can differ depending on the number of units required to treat the area successfully.
